About us

Clitbait is a community for women, trans and non-binary people of different ethnicities, cultures, sexualities, classes, disabilities and religions to have their voices heard. We explore the intersection of these experiences through articles, poetry and art.

Clitbait is both a platform and a safe space. Our website is not only a place to get your work published but also to access a loving, inclusive and supportive community.

Clitbait began at the end of 2018, when two Edinburgh University students Lilah and Laila (the same name in Hebrew and in Arabic!) wanted to write and talk about intersectional feminist issues but knew a platform could not be ‘intersectional’ with only two voices. So they created Clitbait, with the aim of encouraging a wide range of people to get involved.

Since then, our wonderful community has grown. Our team, pictured below, expanded from two to over fifteen people. We receive beautiful work from the wider Clitbait community, sharing powerful experiences and vital opinions and have held many events, both in person and online – from intimate ‘sharing’ circles to club night/ drag show/ spoken word extravaganzas.

We would love you to get involved!
